Requesting an Interlibrary Loan
Please do not request an Interlibrary Loan unless you have searched for the book in our computer card catalog and were unable to obtain a copy that way.
You may request up to 6 items on Interlibrary Loan at one time.
Allow at least 8 weeks to fill your request.
Actual cost of postage. This is payable at time of checkout.
ILLs are checked out for 21 days and are non-renewable. There is a $5.00 fine for failure to pick up a book within 8 days after we have notified you that it is available. Overdue fines are $1.00 per day with a $10.00 max.
To place an Interlibrary Loan (ILL) online, follow these simple instructions:
Click on "WorldCat OCLC FirstSearch".
Enter your 14-digit library barcode, click LOGIN.
This will take you to the WorldCat Advanced Search screen.
You may then search by title, author, keyword, etc...You may also limit the search by year, language, etc...Do not request materials with a copyright date of less than 6 months or A/V materials (audiocassettes, CDs, DVDs or VHS). Requests for materials of this type will NOT be processed!
When you have typed in the information for the item you want, click on SEARCH.
This will bring up a list of possibilities based on your search.
Click on the title of the item you would like to request.
The ILL symbol will be displayed in the upper left of the record:

**Note: This symbol does not display if Cottonwood Public Library owns the book!
Clicking on the ILL symbol will bring up the request form. Required fields are identified with an asterisk. Fill in the required fields of *Name, *Telephone, and *Library Barcode.
Click the SUBMIT button. You will know your request was processed successfully when you see this at the top of the page:
Your resource sharing request was sent successfully.
We will receive a copy of your request in the ILL Dept. and process it from there!
You may continue searching for other items or click FINISHED.
